Bringing Medication into Viet Nam

Narcotic medication drugs must be declared to customs and must not exceed the quantity stated in the enclosed doctor's prescription, but not more than the quantity indicated for seven days.

Psychotropic medication drugs or medication containing precursors used as drugs must be declared to customs and must not exceed the quantity stated in the enclosed doctor's prescription, but not more than the quantity indicated for ten days.

13 countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas

Visa requirements are exempted for citizens of the following countries: Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of France, Republic of Italy, Kingdom of Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russian Federation, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kingdom of Denmark, Kingdom of Sweden, Kingdom of Norway, Republic of Finland and Republic of Belarus with a temporary residence duration of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, purpose of entry, provided that all entry conditions according to Vietnamese law are met.

TOURIST VISA

For e-visa please go to the website of the Vietnamese Immigration Department https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn to apply. All enquiries will need to be made directly to this website (or https://xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/en/gioi-thieu/contact) as the Embassy is not related to the process.

For existing application to https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn, the Embassy can not answer any question regarding the progress.

WARNING:

There has been a cluster of complaints from both Australian and foreign visitors that the online visa applications via unauthorized and/or untrustworthy websites cause a lot of inconvenience. Sometimes they can not board on the plane or be denied entry and pay a fine because of fake visas.

For reasons as such, travelers and businesses to Viet Nam are strongly recommended to apply for the visas before departure.

Tại buổi tiếp Đại sứ Việt Nam tại Australia Nguyễn Tất Thành chào xã giao ngày 27/9/2022, Chủ tịch Thượng viện mới của Australia Sue Lines nhiều lần nhấn mạnh Chính phủ Công đảng thực sự coi trọng quan hệ với Việt Nam.

Chủ tịch Thượng viện Sue Lines phấn khởi trước những bước phát triển nổi bật trong quan hệ Đối tác Chiến lược Australia-Việt Nam, đặc biệt là hợp tác kinh tế, đối ngoại nghị viện và giao lưu nhân dân. Bà Sue Lines khẳng định sẽ tiếp tục ủng hộ quan hệ với Việt Nam trên cương vị Chủ tịch Thượng viện như đã từng làm khi còn là Phó Chủ tịch Thượng viện; nhấn mạnh hai nước còn nhiều dư địa để phát triển hơn nữa quan hệ trong thời gian tới. Chủ tịch Thượng viện cũng bày tỏ vui mừng về hợp tác giữa các địa phương hai nước, ấn tượng trước những thành tựu mà bang quê hương của bà là Tây Australia đã đạt được với Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, đồng thời mong đợi việc mở thêm đường bay thẳng giữa hai nước, nhất là với thành phố Perth, thủ phủ Tây Australia.

Đại sứ Nguyễn Tất Thành vui mừng chia sẻ thành tựu hợp tác song phương với điểm sáng là thương mại tăng gần 40% trong 8 tháng đầu năm 2022, lần đầu tiên đưa Australia trở thành đối tác thương mại lớn thứ 7 của Việt Nam và Việt Nam trở thành đối tác thương mại lớn thứ 10 của Australia. Đại sứ đánh giá cao truyền thống hợp tác giữa Quốc hội hai nước suốt gần 40 năm qua, với điểm nhấn là các chuyến thăm Australia của Chủ tịch Quốc hội Việt Nam luôn tạo xung lực mới cho hợp tác toàn diện, sâu sắc hơn giữa hai nước. Đại sứ thông tin về Nhóm Nghị sỹ Hữu nghị Việt Nam-Australia và mong đợi nhóm nghị sỹ hữu nghị Australia-Việt Nam sớm được thành lập để cùng phối hợp thúc đẩy hợp tác Quốc hội, kể cả thông qua kênh hợp tác trực tiếp giữa các đoàn đại biểu Quốc hội địa phương của hai bên.

Đại sứ và Chủ tịch Thượng viện nhất trí phối hợp đẩy mạnh hợp tác giữa Quốc hội hai nước, hướng tới kỷ niệm 50 năm ngày thiết lập quan hệ ngoại giao (1973-2023). Chủ tịch Thượng viện Sue Lines bày tỏ mong muốn sớm đón lãnh đạo Quốc hội Việt Nam thăm Australia và khẳng định sẽ cân nhắc thăm Việt Nam vào thời điểm phù hợp.
