The MoU, signed in Hanoi on September 8 during a visit to Vietnam by a delegation from Australia’s Federal Court, is the legal basis for the two courts to build and put into action a number of joint initiatives.
Under the MoU, both sides will focus on technical cooperation programmes, especially between their judges and court officials.
At their meeting, the two chief justices highlighted the importance of the relationship between the two courts, saying that closer ties would bring about practical benefits for both countries.
The Federal Court of Australia has offered an effective and practical assistance to Vietnam over the past few years, especially in building “a Judges’ Handbook” and helping to enhance the capacity of Vietnamese judges, said Chief Justice Binh.
The Australian official said there had been a lot of progress made between the two courts.
He added that in the future the ties would be enhanced./.
