TOURIST VISA

Entry visas to Viet Nam can be applied ONLINE, BY POST or  IN PERSON (by the applicant or anyone on his/her behalf at the Embassy).
APPLY ONLINE: For Australian and New Zealand passport holders and for the purposes of tourism & family visiting only.
Step 1: Please click here: www.vietnamembassyvisa.org.au  to fill the form online, upload the main page of the passport and portrait photo; 
Step 2: You will receive detailed instruction through 02 emails (Reference Number/Group ID and payment information);

Step 3: Transfer payment to the Embassy's bank account (remember to put the Reference Number/Group ID);

Step 4: Loose-leaf visas will be sent by post to your address (once the Embassy receive the payment, the processing time is within 01-02 working day, excluding the post time).

APPLYING BY POST (Check list): Original passport, application form (with photo attached), fee in AUD (Money Order or Bank Cheque payable to "the Embassy of Viet Nam") and one prepaid return envelop.

Processing time: 24 hours after all the sufficient documents are received (express service for same day with extra fee).

WARNING:

There has been a cluster of complaints from both Australian and foreign visitors that the online visa applications via unauthorized and/or untrustworthy websites cause a lot of inconvenience. Sometimes they can not board on the plane or be denied entry and pay a fine because of fake visas.

For reasons as such, travelers and businesses to Viet Nam are strongly recommended to apply for the visas before departure through the Embassy of the S.R. of Viet Nam in Canberra. Please contact the Embassy for further information .

Unilateral Visa exemption for following passports holders:

- The UK, Germany, Italy, France and Spain; and

- Japan, the Repulic of Korea, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russian Federation, Belarus.

Criminal Records Certificate (police check) for foreigners who resided in Viet Nam at the Vietnamese National Center for Criminal Records

Step 1: Certification by the Embassy of Viet Nam of your signature in Criminal Records Form and certification of true copy of your passport;

Step 2: Submission of paper work as required to the Vietnamese competent authority in Viet Nam (Department of Justice of the Province/cities where you resided; or the Hanoi-based National Center for Criminal Records- NCCR) by post or in person to get the Criminal Records Certificate; and

Step 3: Translation into English of the Criminal Records Certificate obtained at Step 2 which can be done at our Embassy.

Step 4:  Submission of the Vietnamese Criminal Records Certificate and its translated version to the relevant Australian authority.
