On 17 July 2026, Ambassador Pham Hung Tam received Ambassador of India to Australia Nagesh Singh on a courtesy call at the Embassy of Viet Nam in Canberra.

During the meeting, Ambassador Singh reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and close ties between India and Viet Nam, noting that bilateral relations have continued to flourish across multiple areas. Political trust has been further strengthened through regular high-level exchanges, while substantive cooperation has expanded in various fields. People-to-people exchanges have also grown steadily, reflecting the warm sentiments of the Indian people towards Viet Nam. Ambassador Singh recalled his previous visits to Viet Nam and expressed his admiration for the country's achievements and dynamic development.

Ambassador Singh also briefed Ambassador Tam on the current state of India–Australia relations, including the recent visit of the Prime Minister of India to Australia. He highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral cooperation and underscored the important role played by the Indian community in fostering closer ties between the two countries.

Congratulating Ambassador Singh on the presentation of his credentials to the Governor-General of Australia, Ambassador Pham Hung Tam expressed his satisfaction with the strong and growing momentum of the Viet Nam–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He emphasized that Viet Nam highly values India's longstanding friendship, valuable support and close cooperation throughout different stages of its national development, as well as the two countries' continued collaboration today.

Ambassador Tam also shared his experience in working with Australian federal and state authorities and expressed his confidence that the two embassies would continue to maintain close coordination, contributing to the further strengthening of the Viet Nam–India and India–Australia partnerships.

The two ambassadors also exchanged views on developments in Australia and discussed regional issues of mutual interest, reaffirming their shared commitment to maintaining close contact and cooperation during their respective tenures in Canberra./.
